Earwig Control in Hart County
Hart County’s Locally Owned Earwig Control, Backed by IPM Since 2015
If you’re finding earwigs in your bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room, it’s rarely a random event. Mike's Pest Control has served Hart County homeowners and businesses since 2015, and we know that indoor earwig sightings can trace back to moisture conditions or unsealed entry points on the property. A can of spray handles what’s visible. It doesn’t address why they’re there.
As a locally owned and family-owned company, we bring an IPM-based approach to earwig control Hart County residents can count on: inspection first, targeted treatment where conditions call for it, and practical steps to reduce what’s drawing earwigs to the structure in the first place.

Why Earwigs Are a Problem in Hart County
Hart County sits in Northeast Georgia’s humid subtropical climate zone, where warm temperatures and heavy seasonal rainfall create ideal conditions for earwig activity through spring and summer. These insects are easy to identify up close: an elongated, reddish-brown body with a distinctive pair of pincers called cerci at the tail end. Most Hart County residents notice them before they get a good look at one.
Earwigs thrive in moist, dark environments. Mulch beds, leaf litter, pavers, and dense foundation plantings all provide the shelter and humidity they prefer. When summer rains saturate the soil, or when conditions outside swing between soaking wet and very dry, earwigs move toward structures. They find their way in through foundation cracks, gaps under doors, and utility penetrations.
Indoors, they tend to show up in bathrooms, basements, kitchens, and laundry rooms, anywhere moisture is present. Outdoors, they can damage garden plants and ornamental landscaping by chewing irregular holes in leaves and flower blossoms. They don’t spread disease and pose no structural threat to buildings, though they can pinch if handled. Consistent indoor sightings are a signal worth taking seriously: they point to conditions on your property that can keep bringing earwigs back until those conditions change.
